Policy Statement

At Berley Pherson Studios, the safety and well-being of children are our highest priorities. We are committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for all children involved in our programs. This Working with Children Policy outlines our commitment to safeguarding children and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to:

  • Ensure that all staff and volunteers understand their responsibilities when working with children.
  • Establish guidelines for appropriate behavior and practices to protect children.
  • Establish a framework for reporting and responding to concerns regarding child safety.

Scope

This policy applies to all employees, volunteers, contractors, and any other individuals working with children at Berley Pherson Studios.

Responsibilities

1. Compliance with Legislation:
All staff and volunteers must comply with relevant child protection laws and regulations, including obtaining and maintaining valid Working with Children Checks (WWCC) as required.

2. Staff Training:
All employees and volunteers will receive training on child protection policies, appropriate behavior when working with children, and how to recognize and report concerns where applicable

3. Code of Conduct:
Staff and volunteers are required to adhere to a Code of Conduct that outlines acceptable behavior when interacting with children. This includes:

  • Treating children with respect and dignity.
  • Ensuring physical contact is appropriate and consensual.
  • Maintaining professional boundaries and avoiding favoritism.


4. Reporting Procedures:
Any concerns regarding the safety or well-being of a child must be reported immediately to the designated Child Safety Officer. All reports will be taken seriously and investigated promptly.

5. Confidentiality:
All information related to child protection concerns will be treated with the utmost confidentiality, only being shared with those directly involved in the investigation or necessary reporting.

6. Review and Evaluation:
This policy will be reviewed annually or as required to ensure its effectiveness and compliance with any legislative changes.
